TENNIS

Tennis takes place in the fall for girls, while it goes in the spring for the boys. Roland Park shared the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference team title with Bryn Mawr.

The Reds won their last two matches to pull into a tie with Bryn Mawr and earned a piece of the title for the second straight year. The conference's tournament for individuals takes place next week at McDonogh.

SOCCER

John Carroll got help from Colleen O'Connell and Mel Lookingland in a 5-1 victory over Mount de Sales.

O'Connell led the way with three goals and an assist while Lookingland pitched in with two goals and two assists as the Patriots stayed close in the IAAM A Conference battle.

St. Mary's pulled out a 2-1 overtime victory over Notre Dame Prep. St. Paul's edged Catholic, 1-0, in that battle. Jessica Van Dyke scored the game-winning goal.

VOLLEYBALL

St. Paul's stayed perfect on Thursday with an easy 25-11, 25-16, 25-16 sweep of IAAM A Conference rival Institute of Notre Dame. The victory was key for St. Paul's as it's trying to hold off Mount de Sales and Spalding for the top seed in the A Conference.

Spalding stayed on course Thursday with a four-set victory over McDonogh. The Cavaliers pulled out a 25-17, 27-29, 25-13, 25-13 win over the Eagles.

CROSS COUNTRY

Archbishop Spalding came up big in last weekend's Bull Run Invitational at Hereford. The Cavaliers won the Small Schools division of the event, which had been pushed back two weeks because of a bad storm.

Spalding finished with 92 points to edge out Oakland Mills (98). Maryvale ended up fifth with 134 points, just ahead of IND (163).

Elisa Heacock led Spalding with her 10th-place finish. Rachel Nerenberg finished in seventh to pace Maryvale.

Madeline Dulac was the top local finisher in the race, taking fourth place.
