Week In Review: Sept. 22-25

Here's a look back at some of the notable matchups this week in MIAA action.

MIAA A Conference Soccer Play - Tuesday

Gilman 1, Loyola 0

Gilman's Diego McQuestion scored the game's only goal for Gilman (now 2-1-2 in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference). The goal was assisted by Reid Barger's throw-in with six minutes left in the first half.

Gilman's Christian Hall had six saves and Loyola's Tim Pietsh had 10 saves. The loss dropped Loyola to 1-3-2.

Mount St. Joseph 3, John Carroll 0

Mount St. Joseph got goals from David Arnold, Geaton Caltabiano and Brennan Orsulak to lift the Gaels to 4-2-0. Caltabiano and Jalen Robinson each had assists on the day.

At goalie, Cody Niedermeier (Mount St. Joseph) and Andrew Bodt (John Carroll) each made five saves. John Carroll suffered its first loss of the season, dropping to 3-1-0.

McDonogh 4, Archbishop Spalding 0

McDonogh's Julian Griggs had two goals and one assist to pace McDonogh. Mamadou Kansaye and Jeremy Kirkwood each added a goal for the Eagles (5-0-0). Kirkwood had two assists, and Joe Vidmar also had an assist.

McDonogh held the Cavaliers to three shots on net. Spalding dropped to 0-6-1.

Archbishop Curley 1, St. Paul's 0

Curley got a first-half goal from Oumar Ballo and held on for the win to improve to 3-2-0 on the season. St. Paul's dropped to 1-4-1. In goal, St. Paul's Austin Brown made six saves and Curley's John Connolly had three stops.
