Terps' Recruit Expected to Qualify

University of Maryland men's basketball recruit Sean Mosley is expected to qualify academically under NCAA guidelines, according to several media outlets.

The 6-foot-4 St. Frances graduate averaged 24.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game last winter with the Panthers. He was named the Baltimore Sun's All-Metro Player of the Year, Most Outstanding Player at the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament, the Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year and the Baltimore Catholic League Most Outstanding Player along with Henry Sims of Mount St. Joseph. He finished his high school career with 2,933 points.

Mosley led the Panthers to the Baltimore Catholic League Tournament championship last winter and earned Most Valuable Player honors during the tournament.

He averaged 21 points, eight rebounds, six assists, four steals, 3.5 blocks as a junior after averaging 18.5 points, six rebounds, three assists and four blocks as a sophomore under head coach William Wells.

At the start of his sophomore season, Mosley led St. Frances to a tournament title in Ketchikan, Alaska. He totaled 59 points and 30 rebounds in three wins.

But his most impressive performance may have come as a freshman. He led St. Frances to the Baltimore Catholic League Tournament title and became the first freshman ever to be named the tournament's MVP. He had 46 points and 30 rebounds in three tournament wins. Mosley had 18 points in the final against Towson Catholic, a 57-48 victory.

He averaged 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists per game in his freshman campaign.
