Patrick Fanshaw has led the Calvert Hall lacrosse team’s potent offense to a 4-1 record in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference.
Fanshaw leads the Cardinals in points in conference play with 16 and also has a team-high 13 goals. He is a big reason why the team is outscoring conference opponents 55-35 during its season.
The Cardinals are 11-1 overall this season and their 4-1 conference record puts them near the top of the A Conference. They have to move ahead of Gilman and Loyola Blakefield, both at 5-0 in the conference currently, to jump into first place.
"We have a great group of players," said coach Bryan Kelly. "They are first and foremost wonderful people to be with. They play hard and they are team-first type players."
Calvert Hall will have its chance to make a move in the A Conference in its next game, a visit to Gilman, Friday.
The Cardinals’ conference wins have come against Boys’ Latin, St. Mary’s, McDonogh and most recently, Archbishop Spalding, Friday. Its lone loss has been to Loyola.
Goalie Greg Dutton, who has registered 55 saves in conference play, has been vital for Calvert Hall.
Tony Rossi has added eight goals and six assists for the Cardinals in conference play, and Jason McFadden has helped out with seven goals and seven assists.
Sean Maguire has also helped out Calvert Hall with five goals and seven assists in conference play, along with Ryan Gutowski (five goals and one assist) and Tyler Adelsberger (three goals and two assists).

The Park School boys' lacrosse team jumped out to a good start this spring, going 5-1 in the MIAA B Conference through last weekend.
Park’s conference wins have come against St. Vincent Pallotti, Key School, Annapolis Area Christian, Glenelg Country and Chapelgate Christian.
Though the Bruins have the best record in the Black region, Archbishop Curley leads the entire B Conference with a 7-0 record. Park will not have a chance to match up with Archbishop Curley to try to cut into its conference lead because the two teams already played March 27. Archbishop Curley came out on top by a score of 19-5.
Ben Levin has helped the offense with 12 goals and seven assists in conference play, and Jamie Matz, with 10 goals and six assists, have also been a key parts of the Park offense.
