The Loyola Blakefield baseball team was busy last week, playing four games in five days, and the Dons struggled.
Loyola lost three of four in that stretch to push their overall record to 13-5 and Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference record to 3-3.
The Dons began the week with a 9-0 loss to Calvert Hall Monday. They then lost a tough 4-2 decision to Archbishop Curley Wednesday and gave up three third-inning runs to give Curley a 3-1 lead it would not relinquish.
Bobby Kirby started the game on the mound for the Dons before being relieved in the sixth. Kirby also homered in the game to help his cause, but it wasn't enough.
Loyola got its lone win of the week with a 12-5 romp over Gilman Thursday.
The Dons ended the week with a five-inning 13-1 loss to Archbishop Spalding. Loyola pitchers allowed 13 hits and gave up 11 runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined to cut the game short. Andrew Hahn homered for the Dons, and Mark Quaranta doubled.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel also had a busy week, playing three games, and it also found trouble.
The Cougars went 1-2 on the week to push their overall record to 6-6 and MIAA B Conference record to 2-2.
They began the week Monday with a 1-0 loss to Friends. Stephon Dingle went the distance for Mount Carmel, giving up only two hits. Friends pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win.
The Cougars fell again two days later with a 12-2 loss to Boys' Latin. Mount Carmel pitchers gave up eight runs combined in the first two innings to fall into a big hole.
The team ended the week on a high note, winning a 10-7 decision over Annapolis Area Christian.
The Cougars' other conference win was a five-inning 17-6 decision over Chapelgate Christian April 2. Mount Carmel scored in every inning in which it batted, and Dingle went the distance on the mound.
