The Archbishop Spalding softball team is on a path to perfection as the team looks to add more wins to their 6-0 record, but the Cavaliers had a memorable one late last week.
Emily Weiman threw a no-hitter to help Spalding pull out a key 3-0 victory over John Carroll in an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference game. She also hit a triple in the victory, which came in the battle for first place in the conference.
Spalding’s pitching and defense has been solid all season. The Cavaliers gave up only eight runs through the first six games, including four shutouts, notably Mount de Sales and this one against John Carroll.
The strong pitching is a big reason why the Cavaliers will likely be fighting for the top spot in the Conference this season.
ST. PAUL'S STAYS IN COMPETITION
St. Paul’s School for Girls has been playing well in the IAAM C Conference, sitting comfortably at third place with a 5-3 record.
The Gators have been dominating its opponents this season, getting three shutouts and doing well with clutch hitting.
Starting sophomore pitcher Sarah Meil began with a 5-1 record, playing a big role in St. Paul’s early-season success.
The bats have come out also, with victories over Roland Park (15-0) and Bryn Mawr (17-3). But they also suffered close losses to Chapelgate Christian and Towson Catholic.
