POWDERLY POWERS ST. PAUL’S
Sophomore Pat Powderly has led the St. Paul’s ice hockey team’s offensive attack in recent Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference play with some strong goal scoring and playmaking.

Powderly scored 15 goals and had eight assists for 23 points over a recent six-game stretch, helping the Crusaders win them all.

The Crusaders, who have a good shot at the MIAA B Conference regular season title, are 13-0-1 overall and 10-0 in the A Conference, good for 20 conference points. They were in first place through last weekend's games.

Sophomore Derek Braig (eight points) and freshmen Jack Burton (five points) have also been solid during the this six-game stretch.

The Crusaders have scored 87 goals throughout their entire season and have given up a mere 25 goals.

GAELS TOP CARDINALS, TAKE CONTROL OF A CONFERENCE
Mount St. Joseph senior Andy McCrumb scored three goals to lead the Gaels over Calvert Hall by the score of 5-3 to take control of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference.

The Gaels have 11 conference points after the victory. They can guarantee themselves the A Conference regular season title if they defeat Loyola Blakefield and Archbishop Spalding in their last two conference games. But if the Gaels lose or tie in either of their last two games, they’ll open possibilities up for the Cardinals to have a shot at winning the A Conference regular season title.

The Cardinals, who also play Loyola and Archbishop Spalding in their last two conference games, are stuck at 10 points after the loss.

Junior Andrew Fitzhugh and senior Jake Natoli each added a goal for the Gaels, while Heath MacClean (two goals) and Andrew Klick (one goal) rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals.

QUICK HITS
St. Mary’s is 6-5-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the B Conference, good for 13 conference points. The Saints have scored 73 goals throughout the entire season and allowed 68. … Georgetown Prep is 5-6 overall in non-tournament games. It has scored 38 goals during these games and allowed 32.
