FOSTER AND PEARCE LEAD ST. TIMOTHY’S
Senior forward Lindsay Foster and senior guard Melissa Pearce have led the offense of St. Timothy’s with some good scoring in the first part of the season.
Foster leads the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game in five recent conference games against Key, Baltimore Lutheran, Beth Tfiloh, Friends and Catholic. Pearce is second in scoring during these games with 8.8 points per game.
Coach Mike Buchanan's team is 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland C Conference and has been competitive throughout.
St. Tim's, who competes in the X division of the C Conference, has also gotten help on offense from sophomore forward Delaney Lackey (5.6 ppg in the five recent conference games) and sophomore guard Caitlin Dill (3.4).
NOTRE DAME PREP LOOKING TO IMPROVE
The Notre Dame Prep girls basketball team has almost as many overall and conference victories this season as they did all of last season.
The Blazers, who are currently 5-8 overall and 3-5 in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference, are one conference win away from matching last year's four conference wins and six overall wins.
The Blazers compete in the A Conference's X division.
Coach Kate Campitelli's Blazers are getting solid offensive leadership from sophomore forward Meghan Helm, who leads the team in scoring with 7.3 points per game in seven conference games against Roland Park, St. Mary's, St. John's Catholic Prep, St. Frances, Spalding, Towson Catholic and McDonogh.
Senior Lauren Mazzone has helped out with 6.2 points per game in these contests, as has sophomore forward Tessa Niehoff (5.4). Senior guard Brett Cullen (3.9) also has chipped in during these games.
ROLAND PARK STRUGGLING MIGHTILY
Girls basketball coach Scott Buckley had a very difficult task entering this season with Roland Park Country School -- rebuilding.
The Reds want to rejoin the ranks of winning basketball programs. They went just 4-12 in the tough Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference last year -- and the task looks a lot harder now than it did then.
The Reds, who compete in the Y division of the A Conference, are 3-12 overall and have just a 1-6 conference record. Roland Park's biggest problem is offensive production. No one is averaging in double figures, and the Reds need to find a way to get more points if they're going to be more productive.
