Chapelgate improved their record to 8-5 with wins over From the Heart and conference rival Beth T’filoh. The From the Heart game was never in doubt as Chapelgate ran out to an early 13-0 lead. The final was 63-43. Senior guard Ji-Min Jeong led the Yellow Jackets with 11 points. Strong defense was provided by Senior guard Mike Lovaas, (leading the team with 32 steals), Junior forward Sam Bianconi (14 rebounds) and sophomore forward Sam Orlando (13 rebounds). Sam Orlando was recently pulled up from JV to replace injured forward Jeremiah Murrell. He has quickly moved to second place on the team in rebounds, behind Bianconi, who has 130.
Against C conference rival Beth T’filoh, Chapelgate started strong , but the game remained close until the end. After two three pointers by Bianconi and a layup and three pointer by Lovaas, Chapelgate had an 11 point lead with four minutes to play. Bianconi finished with a double double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Beth T’filoh cut the lead to 5, but Chapegate held on to secure their first conference win 57-46. Jeong (14)and sophomore guard Aaron McCall (15)led the scoring for Chapelgate.
Chapelgate now heads to a Christmas Tournament at Glenelg Country School with a first round game against B conference Annapolis Area Christian on Thursday.
