Ancarrow Ready For DI Lacrosse

The John Carroll High School girls lacrosse program fielded its best team ever this year, becoming the first squad in school history to go undefeated and win the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship, retaining the title it won last year. And nobody epitomizes the work ethic, dedication and humility that brought the team its second consecutive title more than attacker Casey Ancarrow.

North Shines in Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic

Western Reserve Academy in Ohio, Lake Brantley High in Florida, Ignatius High in California and Brophy College Prep in Arizona. Not exactly powerhouse programs on the lacrosse landscape over the years but more proof that the game is exploding nationally.

Those four schools didn't just feature players in last Saturday's Under Armour All-America senior boys game at Johnny Unitas Stadium, they featured players who proved they can play with anyone in the country.

Towson's Johnny Unitas Stadium will play host to the third annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic this Saturday. The boys' and girls' North versus South All-American games headline the event, with the boys' game televised nationally on ESPNU at 8 p.m. This year will also feature an expanded underclassmen tournament with teams from Baltimore, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Last Friday afternoon, Tony and Guri Seaman hosted a party at their Baltimore County home for dozens of their fellow parents of the University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team before heading to Johnny Unitas Stadium for the NCAA women’s national semifinals.

Under Armour Lax All-America Games

Johnny Unitas Stadium is the site of the third Under Armour Lacrosse Classic, a pair of boys and girls all-star games set for July 12. And the richer are getting richer. Nearly two dozen of the 90 Under Armour All-Americans are headed to men’s and women’s teams playing in last weekend’s Final Four.

John Carroll, Garrison Forest and Pallotti Win Titles

John Carroll’s winning of the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference lacrosse title was a mild surprise last year. Things were a little different this spring.

The Patriots went undefeated this year and capped their big season May 10 against McDonogh with an 11-6 victory at St. Paul’s.

Brittany Dashiell and Grace Gaeng each had three goals. Casey Ancarrow helped with had one goal and four assists.

Patriots, Cavaliers Win IAAM A Titles

It has been an eventful last 10 months for Ally Carey, John Carroll’s outstanding senior lacrosse player. Last summer in Peterborough, Ontario, she helped the United States beat Australia, 18-3, to win the World Under-19 women’s lacrosse tournament.

Last weekend at St. Paul’s School in Brooklandville, she was a little closer to home as her John Carroll team beat McDonogh, 11-6, to win the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship.

The win nailed down an undefeated season for Krystin Porchella’s Patriots, who finished a perfect 18-0.

John Carroll Goes Wire to Wire

The John Carroll girls lacrosse team truly had a perfect season.

The Patriots completed their unmarked 18-0 season with an 11-6 victory over McDonogh in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship this past weekend at St.Paul’s Levering Field.

This was John Carroll’s second consecutive IAAM A Conference championship. The Patriots won last year’s crown in overtime.

Geppi-Aikens Left Legacy That Endures

It has been five years since Diane Geppi-Aikens lost her battle with cancer. Five years since her Loyola College women's lacrosse team inspired an entire nation of young girls with tenacious play on the field and remarkable resiliency and devotion off it. Five years since a group of special young ladies not only reached the Final Four for the first time in school history but proved that competitive sports are about so much more than just winning games and championships.

St. Mary's Stumbles But Gets Up

The St. Mary’s girls lacrosse team hit a roadblock mid-season, dropping three straight games in their annually-tough schedule. But the week had a better ending.

After dropping games to McDonogh, St. Paul’s and local rival Severna Park, the Saints rallied to pull out a 12-11 overtime victory over Dulaney Saturday.

The team was on a five-game winning streak and had only lost to one team, Notre Dame Prep, before encountering their current losing streak.
